Watershed development refers to the conservation regeneration and the judicious use of all the resources – natural (like land, water plants, animals) and human – within the watershed area. Watershed Management tries to bring about the best possible balance in the environment between natural resources on the one side and man and animals on the other. Since it is the man which is primarily responsible for degradation of environment, regeneration and conservation can only be possible by participation among the people who inhabit the watersheds. The term watershed development encompasses additional dimensions like equity, sustainability, gender and people’s participation. It has become a trusted tool for the overall development of the village and people living within a watershed area.

PMKSY WDC 2.0 ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಬೀದರ್ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಭಾಲ್ಕಿ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಜಾಮಕಂಡಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ (PRA) ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಸದರಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಾಮ ಪಂಚಾಯಿತಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಕೃಷಿ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಾಹಕ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಮುಖಂಡರು ಸ್ವಸಹಾಯ ಗುಂಪಿನ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಯೋಜನೆಯ ತಂಡದ ನಾಯಕರು ಆದಾಯ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆ ಪರಿಣಿತರು ಮತ್ತು ಕಂಪ್ಯೂಟರ್ ಆಪರೇಟರ್ ಜಲಾನಯನ ಸಹಾಯಕರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು.
REWARD Project Meeting in Nagalapur
A meeting was held today in Nagalapur village of Lingsugur taluk with the collaboration of the Watershed Development Department and the Agriculture Department. The meeting was attended by agricultural officers, the CIO of the Grams organization, directors of the Farmer Producer Company, the CEO, and field-level staff. Detailed information was provided on including farmers within the REWARD project as shareholder members and the formation of farmer interest groups. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss strategies for involving more farmers in the project. The directors and field staff actively participated in the discussions, ensuring comprehensive planning for future initiatives.
Auto Awareness Campaign Launched for Jal Jeevan Mission in Dakshina Kannada
In collaboration with the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, and the Project Support Resource Organization, Grams - Raichur, a significant program under the Jal Jeevan Mission was launched on 26.02.2024. Dr. Anand K, the Chief Executive Officer of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, and Mr. N. D. Raghunath, the Executive Engineer of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, inaugurated the auto awareness campaign. This vehicle will travel to all gram panchayats in Dakshina Kannada district, providing information on the efficient use of water, rainwater harvesting, and greywater management. The event was attended by Mr. Vignesh Raj, the District Project Manager of Jal Jeevan Mission for Dakshina Kannada, Ms. Vijayalakshmi, the Senior Analyst at the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Drinking Water Testing Laboratory, Mr. Naveen and Mr. Dombayya from the Swachh Bharat Mission, Ms. Lalitha, the Team Leader of the Project Support Organization for Jal Jeevan Mission, and staff from the Rural Drinking Water Department.
S-2 Training Program for Women's Self-Help Groups Under REWARD Project
On 05.02.2024, the Agriculture and Watershed Development Departments, in collaboration with the World Bank, organized an S-2 training program for women's self-help groups in Vyasanandihal village under the sustainable development plan. The event was attended by panchayat members, REWARD project officials, SELCO Foundation representatives, and project staff. Training covered record-keeping and financial management for women. The CEO emphasized soil and water conservation, afforestation, horticulture, and livestock development, urging women to utilize training for economic empowerment.
